Yes… when performed by a trained healthcare professional, shockwave therapy is very safe. It’s FDA-cleared, non-surgical, and has minimal side effects, making it a well-tolerated option for many musculoskeletal conditions.
Does Shockwave Therapy hurt?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort during treatment. You may feel mild pressure or tapping sensations as the sound waves are applied, but it’s generally well-tolerated and most people say it feels “therapeutic.” Any temporary soreness usually fades within 24 to 48 hours.
How long does the whole thing take?
Each session could take about 10 to 15 minutes. Overall, most patients see results within 3–6 sessions, scheduled about a week apart. Your exact treatment plan will depend on your condition, goals, and how your body responds to therapy.

Shockwave therapy requires no downtime. You can return to your daily activities right after the session, though Dr. Matias and Dr. Orta may advise modifying certain movements or exercises as your body begins to heal.
